Who would have thought that a Radio show would bring so much pleasure? Bob Dylan has succeeded in creating a simple format which continues to deliver compelling listening. Unfortunately the word is that he has take a holiday from the show to write the second volume of Chronicles. Can’t have everything I suppose.
So it is 2007
Listening to Bob Dylan doing his bit as a DJ on Radio 2 – a repeat of a programme he did on a radio station in the USA earlier this year – and oh what a revelation – learned more about where the great man is at listening to an hours worth of his choice of music than a life time of listening to his songs. He remains an enigma of epic length and breadth – but the warmth of his voice – and the strange reassurance that he his not only human – but a strangely-gifted human observer of the world around us with an insight into some great music.
